I am assuming this is right after the David arc; will amend once I find out the exact.
Face Claim: Take a young Kyle Schmid, give him unruly dirty-blonde hair and green (if I recall correctly) eyes. For the hawk (lolwut I have a faceclaim for him too!), Russel the red-tail from the Carolina Raptor Center.

History
Tobias never knew his parents. They were said to have been killed in a car crash when he was a young boy. The only people to take him in were the most undesireable of all: an uncle who was almost always drunk, and an aunt who liked to use him as cheap labour. There was one upside, and that was that he was able to keep his cat, Dude. In school, the kids teased him for being socially awkward, and from wearing the only clothes—secondhand—that his caretakers let him wear. Things seemed down for him, but some of his teachers liked the bright boy that graced their classes. He was a bully magnet, however, and constantly they would pick on him. One time they were giving him swirlies in the bathroom when a big guy named Jake stepped in and made them stop. It was something about him that persuaded them, and ever since, Tobias respected Jake.
One night at the mall when it was getting late, Tobias ran into Jake again, and Jake's best friend Marco, who were coming out of the arcade. Tagging along with them, they eventually ran into Jake's beautiful cousin Rachel, and Rachel's best friend Cassie, and they made a decision that would change their lives forever. They decided to pass through the abandoned construction lot. It was there that Tobias spotted something strange in the sky, and he couldn't believe his eyes.
It was an alien spacecraft.
From it stumbled a wounded alien. He was called Prince Elfangor, an Andalite War-Prince. Tobias gravitated towards him; there was something about him that made him form a caring instantly for this brave alien. Elfangor told them of the Yeerk invasion, and armed them with a dangerous weapon: the power to morph into any animal they touched. Tobias—who had always wondered what it was like to spread his wings and fly—was thrilled at the chance, both to fly free and to fight. Before the Yeerks came, Elfangor endowed Tobias with some knowledge, which he has been yet to fully unravel. After that, Tobias and the others were forced to watch as the leader of the Yeerks, Visser Three—the only Yeerk to capture an Andalite host—devoured the Andalite.
Tobias was the first to morph, choosing his cat Dude. It was what gave the group a reality check, telling them this was all very real, though Tobias had already accepted that. And he looked to Jake, knowing Jake was the perfect leader. At Cassie's barn, he acquired a red-tailed hawk, and flew for the first time, providing lookout when they investigated the Sharing. Down in the Yeerk pool on their first mission, Tobias was unable to morph lest he give the Animorphs'--as Marco so eloquently phrased it, meaning “idiot teenagers with a deathwish”--identities away. Gone longer than two hours, he was trapped forever as a red-tailed hawk, with its instincts but his human mind as well.
Bird? Boy? Somewhere in between? Tobias eventually accepted what he was, and became a fierce hunter trying to survive, killing mice for food. Every day was a day of risk, as the sky had its own dangers like the peregrine or the golden eagle. And he continued to fight, in what ways he could. He grew close to Rachel, and though he hated when she would take pity on him, he always enjoyed being with her.
The Animorphs went down to sea, retrieving an Andalite trapped there in a Dome. His name was Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill, the younger brother, in fact, of Prince Elfangor. In the coming months, Tobias and Ax would become fast friends, and in fact, Ax considered Tobias to be his shorm–a term in Andalite that stood for a friendship that was beyond even best friends.
Then one day, everything changed. Tobias and the rest of the Animorphs led two Hork-Bajir to freedom in a valley created by the Ellimist, and in exchange, Tobias was granted the morphing power. The Ellimist, through bending of time, allowed Tobias to acquire his human self as well. He couldn't become that human boy for more than two hours at a time though, and he refused to get himself trapped again, seeing as he wanted to keep up the fight.
Then David came along. The boy who found the blue box, which had mysteriously survived and had avoided Yeerk eyes. David's life was pretty much torn apart when his parents were infested and becoming a wanted man in Yeerk-land, and Tobias felt a little sorry for him, but then he turned against them all, wanting to resort to crime and get what he wanted. And when the Animorphs didn't allow that, he tried to kill them. Luckily for Tobias—though not for the poor bird—the red-tailed hawk David killed was not him, and that was a vital point to the Animorphs' escape and the trapping of David in a rat morph.
Sample RP: ((I will use Tobias' response in the most recent thread on the site)).
Tobias took his usual place in the rafters, ever vigilant for signs of anyone, such as Cassie's parents, that wasn't one of them came peeping around. They couldn't afford to have Ax in his true forme seen by anyone else, else they'd risk exposure and that, they didn't want. But Tobias could see if anyone was coming long before they arrived, so they didn't really have to worry. He was a bit miffed at seeing the golden eagle; not only did he dislike them, but it made him think of David. He couldn't wait until that bird was out of there, and he knew Cassie would make sure not to release the eagle anywhere near his territory.
He was suspicious of the new girl, but he and all of the others had very good reasons to be. The ordeal with David had made them—now that they had the morphing cube—reluctant to recruit new Animorphs, because they didn't know who they could trust. And this girl, Logan, had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Still, he could sympathise with her; she'd lost her home, and it was a whole lot for her to take in. Before, she'd just been an oblivious human unaware of the threat that Earth now faced, and she didn't yet know about everything.
He started to preen, after all, just sitting here it was the perfect time to oil his feathers. It made him better for flight, and his keen ears were still tuned to the sound of unwanted company.
And then a thought came to him. It seemed perfect given the situation. They needed to know she was not a Controller, and they also needed to teach her about what the Yeerks were and prepare her just in case. Not that she needed to suffer anymore, but the people he was about to suggest were fine company once you got over the blades. <Guys, there's something else we aren't considering. What about, at least for the three days, the Hork-Bajir valley? I don't think Toby would mind, and Rachel could bring her food in her eagle morph.> Tobias would do it, but his red-tail form wasn't suitable for carrying large objects. <It'd be a great way to introduce her to the Hork-Bajir, too.>
